Blackberry Picking Hours Summer 2010
Blackberry Prices: $3/lb you pick $4/lb we pick (Call ahead and we will pick them fresh for you that day!) We currently have over 500 mature blackberry plants ready for picking this summer. We will be adding to our berry patch every year to try and accommodate the large number of people that want to pick their produce straight from the farm. The strand of blackberry we currently have planted, is the Kiowa strand developed by the University of Arkansas. The bushes are thorny, but the berries are very flavorful and sweet with large berries averaging around 11 grams/berry with some berries reaching up to 13 grams/berry. The seeds are not too big so they make good jams & jellies. They also store very well and have a long picking season extending up to six weeks long. We have our blackberries trelised and cut between rows to make for easy picking. We will supply the picking containers!
Vegetable prices will fluctuate with market and availability! (Call ahead and we will pick it fresh for you that day!). We will have Black Diamond & Jubilee Watermelons, Ambrosia & Hale's Best Jumbo Cantelopes, Okra, Casper, Twilight & Black Beauty Eggplant, Zucchini, Slicing Cucumber, Straight Neck & Crook Neck Squash, All sorts of Peppers including (Big Bertha Bell, Golden Bell, Golden Californian Wonder, TAM Jalapeno, Hot Jalapeno, Hot Cheyene, Sweet Bannana, & Sweet Italian Pepperoncinis) & Tomatoes including (Better Boy, Big Boy, Brandywine, Black Fron, Celebrity, Grape, Park's Whopper, & Roma).
